Tzaneen library takes on ‘World Book Day’
It was the 23rd of April 2019 where The Libraries, Librarians around the world celebrated the World Book Day with the communities.
The Greater Tzaneen Libraries had different programs in their different Libraries.
Some Librarians visited schools as part of promoting Literacy and to market their Libraries and all the services they render to communities.
Tzaneen Library in partnership with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture team visited The Junction Farm Primary School.
The aim was to motivate the learners, to play with them, story-telling and to introduce them to the culture of reading while they are still young.
It was a beautiful day, bringing smiles to the children’s faces, MsComfort Mathebula motivated the learners and read them a story.
She also played with them so that they felt comfortable.
She told them that they can be whoever they want to be in life as long as they read.
She also them that for them to be successful in life they must love books and make them their friends for life, because books are the only friends that are reliable, Book will never mislead them or turn against them.
She told them that if they read they can be wherever they want and no – one or nothing will stop them.
It doesn’t matter where you come from, as long as you read you can get far, she told them that education is the key to success and it is the only husband or wife who will never divorce you.
She talked to them about different careers and the learners were excited.
Others said they want to be story tellers, as it was a day full of joy.
Mrs Alinah Nkuna handed them presents.
Amongst the presents was stationery: Pencils, erasers, pens, rulers, pencil cases, water bottles, packets of coloring pencils, coloring books, flip charts, note pads and bags.
They were also given sweets.
The School Management team and the teachers were very impressed.
They thanked both Tzaneen Library and The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, saying that what had happened in their school on World Book Day was a first- history.
In conclusion, the team felt happy about the school visit, because they had reached farm school children, who were often forgotten.
