Phalaborwa: Two arrested for being in possession of pangolin

Two suspects were arrested for illegally being in possession of a pangolin by the Phalaborwa Police.

The Phalaborwa SAPS received a tip off that two suspects, residing in Mhinga Village, Malamulele, who were allegedly being in possession of a pangolin were driving on the R40 road between Phalaborwa and Mica.

The Police acted swiftly and a stop and search was conducted along R40 road.

“During the stop and search a Corsa bakkie was spotted,” stated Sergeant Elvis Mongwe.

According to Mongwe the Police requested to search the vehicle.

During the search process a dead pangolin was found.

The two suspects were arrested and will appear in the Phalaborwa Magistrate Court today, Friday April 5.

The Station Commander of Phalaborwa SAPS, Colonel Patricia Rakhadani, commended on the swift response by the police in ensuring that the suspects were arrested.

“We have no room for criminal activities in our beloved town, we will continue to hit hard on criminal activities,” concluded Rakhadani.
