‘Mr Sweet Rain’ ready to soothe souls

The multi talented Tiyiselani 'Mr Sweet Rain' Mnisi is doing his first ever Tiyiselani Mnisi Live Gospel Album Tour1.

Mnisi, born and bred in N’wamitwa at Rhuwanda Village outside Tzaneen, has been singing since he was eight.

He comes from a family of musicians, his love for singing was highly triggered by his late brother, Vikani Mnisi, who started Mahushu Boys Choir in 1999.

His brother made sure they sang everyday and says that boosted his vocal ability.

The local singer eventually joined different kinds of musical bands such as the Nkowankowa Male Voices, Limpopo Gospel Choir until he joined his current band the Living Rock in 2014.

2018 was a great year for the local artist as his song ‘Bombo ra Vakreste’ was nominated in various Gospel awards such as the Crown Gospel Awards, Limpopo Gospel Awards and the Xitsonga Music Awards.

His journey with the group has been good for his career especially after winning the Best Gospel Group at the Ingoma Gospel Awards in Johannesburg.

“2018 was the most powerful year for me as an artist, I have performed on SABC 2’s Morning Live, performed live on television for the first time on Crown Gospel Awards, performed in Swaziland and for the song that I had written to be nominated in so much awards such humbling experience.

“This is when I realised that as an artist it was time to do my own live tour and I have made genuine friends from all over the country,” explained Mnisi.

He also does radio, he has worked in Phalaborwa FM and Greater Tzaneen Radio Station (GTFM).

At GTFM he read the Xitsonga and English news, voice overs and also had his own afternoon show.

“My dream is to sell my music globally and also own my own radio station,” he added.

Mnisi is also the founder of BlackChild Trench, a clothing and recording company. He plans to record and promote other artists and sell more clothes to the masses.

The tour will start locally at Kgapane Community Hall on April 26 from 15:00 till late and tickets are R50 for general and R200 for VIP.

Beside his live tour he will be performing at the Xitsonga Music Awards at Giyani Stadium on March 30.
