GLM PMT embarks on back to School campaigns
The Council of Greater Letaba Municipalityled by the Honourable Mayor Cllr Peter Matlou headed the call to visit schools through the back to school campaign programme within the municipal jurisdiction to give words of encouragement and to congratulatethe ones that topped the list.
The council divided itself into three groups, one led by the Mayor, another led by the Speaker Cllr MakhananisaDorah and another one led by the Chiefwhip, Cllr MampeulePhetole.
They all visited underperforming and the best performing schools in three different circuits respectively.Mayor Peter Matlou visitedKolobetona Secondary school in Sekgosesewhich is the worst performer and Makala high school which tops the list of Greater Letaba high schools.
The schools are at the Kolobetona Village in Sekgosese area and are about five kilometres from one another.
Because of the Kolobetona’s achievement of 26%, the mayor decided to adopt the School to give them the necessary support to assist them to do better in the current year.
After submissions of the challenges by schools, he humbly requested the principals to assist one another in trying to improve the result of class of 2019 and also requested teachers to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning, as it was highlighted as the factor that contributed most to Kolobetona’s unsatisfying results.
The Chiefwhip visited Manokwe High which performed good with 92,9% and Magoletsa High which performed the least with 37,9% in the Rakwadi Circuit.
Whereas the Speaker visited Ramabolela High which performed the least with 29,3% and Motloboni Combined school which performed good with 90,0% under Modjadji Circuit.
Hoping with these visits, all schools will be motivated to excel in their performance and those who did bad to up their game this year.
