GALLERY: Caring for Hoedspruit’s elderly residents
The oldies thoroughly enjoyed themselves with cake for tea and a lovely lunch.
Care Buddies have been very busy this year at the old church in Kampersrus. The foundations for the Rehab Centre are complete and the team have most of the backfill and are now waiting for a compactor.
Care Buddies would like to thank Kleintjie Viljoen of Nadzieja Construction and Wayne Matherson for all their help with the back fill.
The church has been renovated to accommodate big groups of senior citizens for functions which include birthday parties, luncheons and arts and crafts days.
On Monday, September 3, the Care Buddies held a pamper day for the seniors. They all had their feet and nails done in the old church in Kampersrus by Jeandre Botha a young lady that offered a free service on her day off.

Care Buddies would like to thank Jeandre for the love she showed towards the oldies while caring for their feet and hands.
The oldies thoroughly enjoyed themselves with cake for tea and a lovely lunch. While they were lying down on the bed being pampered, many of them fell asleep.
The funniest was their children who said, “I don’t think I have ever seen my Mum’s toe nails painted before.”
On Thursday, September 6, they had a very busy arts and crafts day at the old church for the oldies, making crackers which were filled with sweets.
The group will have a follow up day to make more crackers which will be donated to an orphanage, a children’s ward in a hospital and Boyalani.
On Wednesday, September 19, a big birthday bash was celebrated. Twenty-four seniors attended the party, celebrating the birthdays of seven local elderly citizens. A great time was had by all.
The next big function held on Wednesday at Jakkals & Wolf Hoedspruit was a buffet lunch with live entertainment. The proceeds from this function will be used to buy a very large deep freeze this will be used for pre-cooked meals for Hoedspruit’s senior citizens.
