TZANEEN: Soft linen and softer hearts

Renate Filipe, the Sanlam Financial Adviser of Limpopo, officially handed over R20, 000 worth of bedding to the centre on behalf of Sanlam on Friday, September 14.

What began as a call out to take a picture for a donation handover at Tzaneen Cancer Care Centre turned out to be an eye-opening and eye-weeping experience.

Renate Filipe, the Sanlam Financial Adviser of Limpopo, officially handed over R20, 000 worth of bedding to the centre on behalf of Sanlam on Friday, September 14.

The Tzaneen Care Group from the centre handed over a wish list to Sanlam outlining some necessities that the centre was in dire need of. Sanlam then responded offering R20,000 for the purchasing of new linen.

Sanlam have a lot of sympathy and empathy for those struggling with cancer, this shown through their annual cancer golf day.

Renate Filipe, representing Sanlam, said, “This is our first donation to Tzaneen Cancer Care Centre but we hope that our support can be ongoing to them.”

After the handover was done, the women unveiled the complexities surrounding the care that the centre gives. As there is no hospice in Tzaneen, the centre offers a safe and comfortable place for terminal cancer patients to spend their final few days.

It costs the centre R800 per day to take care of a patient and thanks to the generous donation by Sanlam, they now can spend that time in the comfort of the donated linen.
