Making a splash of Eiland Spa’s new hydro pool

Cilliers told the LETABA HERALD that a naturally occurring warm water spring close to the resort is an intrinsic feature of the area and they felt it important to keep a warm water aspect to their facilities.

After approximately seven months of hard work, 80,000 kg of tiling cement and over 1400 metres squared of tiling, the new Hydro Pool at ATKV Eiland Spa was officially opened on Tuesday.

Bennie Steenkamp, the Resort Manager, welcomed the guests in attendance to the opening ceremony and jovially explained that the old hydro was given a make over as the old structure, which had been in existence since the resort was built in the 1970’s, was beginning to look tired and structurally unsound.

The two million rand project began in November last year to regenerate and rejuvenate the hydro pool.

Now complete, the guests of Eiland Spa can use the facilities including the hydro pool and sauna to ensure that they themselves feel rejuvenated and refreshed.

Increased temperatures in the hydro pool promotes an increase in circulation and decreases swelling. Moreover, the temperature allows one to fully relax and not tense up such as in a cold water pool.

This can assist with pain relief, encourages circulations, reduces muscle tension, rehabilitates injured muscles, encourages detoxification and relieves stress.

Steenkamp concluded his welcome speech and handed over the microphone to Schalk Cilliers, Managing Director of ATKV Business, who further welcomed and thanked the guests for attending and officially marked the opening of the facilities by releasing balloons.

The hydro pool is a unique facility to the Eiland Spa within the ATKV group and is a common drawcard for people visiting the resort.

Those attending the opening ceremony were treated with refreshments and then invited to join the Eiland Spa team with a bring and braai.

Generosity was further shown with a prize giveaway. Neels Neetling from Roodeport walked away with a new Snappy Chef pan and a lucky Maritza Roodt won a mid-week trip for six people to ATKV Hartenbos.
