One dead and over 20 injured in Magoebas accident

A serious accident involving a minibus and delivery vehicle occurred on the R71 on Monday afternoon, May 14 leaving one woman dead and over 20 people injured.

According to reports, the 22-seater minibus collided with the bakkie near Magoebaskloof Hotel and both vehicles were left wrecked in the middle of the road. Some of the injured persons were reported to be scattered across the road whilst some remained injured inside the vehicles.

ER24 paramedics and other emergency services arrived on scene and began giving first aid to the injured persons.

One woman with critical injuries was treated on scene and then transferred to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead.

Over 20 other persons were left with minor to moderate injuries and transferred to the Letaba and van Velden Hospitals for further care.

No other information is available at this time and the cause of the accident it not yet known. Investigations are continuing.

Another accident occurred on Tuesday morning, with a truck overturning and causing one lane to be blocked.

This incident also occurred close to Magoebaskloof Hotel.

The traffic continued to flow and no serious injuries were reported.
