UPDATE: Injured passengers were headed for Home Affairs following false rumours

It was later reported that the taxi occupants were on their way to Tzaneen Home Affairs for their Smart Card IDs.

A horrific car accident occurred on the D21 road, near Gamarweše, Lorraine on Thursday, April 5. A taxi collided with a truck that was transporting farm workers.

It was later reported that the taxi occupants were on their way to Tzaneen Home Affairs for their Smart Card IDs.

This after the circulating rumour that pensioners and those receiving child grants and other government related grants will be cut-off if they continue using the Green ID books.

It is reported that the truck was indicating to make a turn into Lorraine village when the taxi increased its speed in order to pass the truck before it could turn.

Both occupants from the truck and the taxi were seriously injured and were taken to Sekororo Hospital. The driver of the taxi and the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

The taxi driver is reported to be Nyabane Mavhunda from Lorraine village and the truck belongs to Mooi of Mooi plaas.
