HAENERTSBURG: Accident team kitted out

With the high accident rates on the R71, their work is not only imperative but also selfless and held in high regard among the community.

Members of the Haenertsburg Neighbourhood Watch (HNW) Accident Response Team (ART) recently received new kit in order to make themselves better equipped and more visible at accident scenes.

These are HNW members dedicated among other HNW duties to assist at accidents on the R71 and especially Magoebaskloof. Members of the ART often arrive first on scene and will start by making the scene safe for the injured, public road users and all other services.

With the high accident rates on the R71, their work is not only imperative but also selfless and held in high regard among the community.

They have been provided by HNW with basic equipment like fire extinguishers, reflective vests, torches, triangles, popup cones, medical kits, radios, strobe lights, flashers, raincoats, gloves and contact detail of all the relevant emergency services to inform them of the services needed at the scene.

They will be provided with further training in medical and scene management in the near future.

HNW Executive Chair, Hans van Schalkwyk would like to thank the following people and companies for their generous discounts and donations; Vixtrix signs, Gasman, Trappers, Sandy Sign Girl, JB Spares and Sticks Timber.

Further thanks must go to the HNW members who made this possible and Rudi Viljoen for the Warriors Boma venue and Dirk Botha for the photography.
