TAKE NOTE: Protest action leaves many roads across the province closed including Giriyondo Border post

Several roads in various part of the Limpopo province have been closed due to service delivery protests.

The Department of Transport says the roads which have been totally closed include:

Marble hall and Groblersdal:

Schoeman Road closed between Groblersdal and Marble Hall due to protest action at Masakaneng. SAPS on scene. It is not safe, please use Vaalfontein Road.

R40 between Hoedspruit and Mpumalanga:

This road has since been opened.

Mokopane to Marken: 

Road from Mokopane to Marken (R518) is closed due to a protest action  just before the Marken Complex. The protesters are complaining about the construction company that is working on the road and believe locals should have instead be hired to carry out the work.

Giriyondo Border Gate:

Guests travelling through the Kruger National Park to and from Mozambique, are informed that Giriyondo Border Gate is inaccessible as a port of entry/exit due to community protests taking place. According to a staff member working at the border post, there are protests on the roads on the Mozambican side. Tourists are advised to use alternative border gates until further notice.
