HOEDSPRUIT: News from the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre
As the year is nearing to an end , the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) would like to share a few stories and happenings at the centre.
The staff has been busy around the clock ensuring the animals’ needs are met and kept in perfect condition, the guides have been hard at work ensuring that guests visiting the centre receive the best experience possible.
“Over all we are trying to bring a change in this world for the better,” says the team in a newsletter.
THey are happy to announce that one of their rescued baby rhinos, Nhlanhla has been weaned off of his bottle.
“This is always exciting for us as we witness one of our young ones move from one phase of life to the next,” read the newsletter.

The centre is actively involved with the local school Lumukisa. They have both facilitated donations for the school as well as created the HESCies programme, to teach the children about nature and conservation.
Heidi and Allen Roberts opened their home once again and hosted their annual fundraising event in aid of the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.
HESC welcomed a newcomer Bruce Crossey to the team, he will perform research on the wild dogs.
