Pageant queens take Tzaneen to the world

Two born and bred Tzaneen pageant queens are finalists in an international beauty pageant competition

Mahlatse Makwela (22) and Mandisa Matsana (18) both from Nkowankowa Township outside Tzaneen are part of the Top 12 Finalists in the Miss International Regal South Africa pageant.

The pageant is about celebrating beauty, ragality, intelligence and seeks to crown a woman who is a role model for other women.

Makwela holds an Honours degree in Psychology and says that her dream of modelling started when she was crowned Meridian College First Princess in high school.

Mandisa Matsana, a Tzaneen born model in the Top 12 Finalist of the Miss Regal International South Africa.

She has since worked with the likes of David Tlale and graced the covers of Mr Price Home multiple times just to name a few of her successes.

“My message to other young women is that wherever life takes you, always blossom with grace because beauty begins the moment you start being yourself,” said Makwela.

Meanwhile Matsana’s successes include being crowned Miss Nkowankowa Barcelona, Miss Beauty in Christ and brand ambassodor for G and I designs.

The Grand Finale Crowning event will take place at the Fire and Ice Protea Hotel Menlyn in Tshwane on September 27 and the winner will represent the country at the international event.

“Every young lady must never allow her circumstances, situations and challenges to define their destiny and to always be true to themselves,” said Matsana.

The parents of the two pageant queens are extremely proud of their daughters and their achievements.

“I’m really proud of Mandisa and I believe in her pontential and I know she will do well in the competition,” said Nolenah Matsana, Mandisa’s mother.

Mahlatse’s cousin, Tsibi makwela said that the family is excited to see Mahlaste’s chidhood dream of being a pageant queen and a model coming to life and becoming a role model to other young women in the community.
