AUDIO: Library up in flames, manhunt launched outside Giyani

GIYANI: Police in Hlanganani outside Giyani have launched a manhunt for a group of suspects who torched a school library last night.

An unknown group of suspects torched a school library at Akani High School last night.

The motive behind this incident is still unknown but the possibility of it being related to the ongoing protest actions by learners and the community has not been ruled out.

Various school items, including books and computers, were scorched.

The estimated value of the damage caused is around R100 000.

The situation in the area is still volatile as most of the roads are still blocked off by residents with stones and branches.

The library was torched last night by an unknown group of suspects.

Members of Public Order Police Unit (POP) have been deployed in the area to stabilise the situation.

The suspects have not yet been found there have been no arrests made.
