HOEDSPRUIT: Lengthy jail sentence for former government official and co-accused

Former head of Limpopo’s transport department, Ntau Letebele and two others accused of murder were given long jail terms

The Polokwane high court has sentenced the former head of Limpopo’s transport department Ntau Letebele  (47), his son  Neo Letebele (28) and Hosia Moagi (49) for kidnapping and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

On the 21st December 2014, the trio have forcefully captured three men aged 25, 26 and 27 years old from their homes in Sekororo area outside Hoedspruit.

They  accused the victims of being involved in a burglary in their business and took them to a farm where they were severely assaulted and later taken to the alleged  burgled business and locked them in a store room.

“Early the next day, witnesses were alarmed by the screaming sound from the store room and when they opened the door, they found that one of the victims was dead. The others were severely injured and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. The Police were notified and started with their initial investigations until all the accused were arrested”, stated Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Provincial Spokesperson.

Ntau Letebele   and Hosia Moagi were each sentenced to an effective EIGHT (08) years imprisonment without fine for Kidnapping and three counts of Assault GBH and Neo Letebele was sentenced to an effective five years imprisonment without fine for kidnapping.

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Jimmy Ledwaba has applauded the team of Detectives who were involved in the investigations of these two incidents which shows the professional and dedicated performance by the Police to our communities in the fight against crime.
