The Mopani District Municipality would like to warn job seekers of scammers who are either calling or approaching people asking them to pay a sum of money in exchange of jobs at the municipality.

According to the municipal spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana, jobs are not for sale at the Mopani District Municipality and at no stage should a person pay any amount for whatever reason in order to secure a job at the municipality.

Shikwambana said the Mopani District Municipality has just invited job seekers to apply for a variety of vacant positions until July 20. “Even after applying, we call on community members to never indulge anyone who calls them for interviews in exchange for money. If at any stage community members come across such swindlers, we request them to swiftly report them to the police,” said Shikwambana.

He assured that the municipality will work with law enforcement agencies to ensure that such unscrupulous individuals who take advantage of community member’s desperation for employment are brought to book and successfully prosecuted.
