Tzaneen’s elderly tested for free
The elderly at Macadamia Retirement Village had fun during a wellness Day hosted by the Clicks Health Group last Wednesday.
They received free testing for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and Torga Optical was there to test their eyes.
Nursing practitioner at Clicks Sister Fionah Mathevula, said as part of their community services, they felt it would be a good thing to give the elderly the services they need most for free.
“We wanted to make them feel loved and appreciated, they all participated and had a good time,” she said.
Roelandi Landsberg who is a diabetes dietitian at Accucheck, gave a presentation on diabetic care. She explained to the elderly the importance of taking medication, eating right and exercising.
The event was made possible through the support from pharmaceutical companies Mylan, Aspen and Accucheck. Oasis Lodge also assisted with drinks.
