LETSITELE: Wanted man arrested

The police have made a major breakthrough last night when they arrested a notorious and highly wanted suspect.

Masilo Elias Gafane (31) was arrested after the police launched a manhunt a week ago.

Gafane and his accomplices have been terrorising the Letsitele, Jane Furse and Westernburg areas between June 2015 and December 2016.

He was wanted for a string of crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking to possession of suspected stolen vehicle, firearm and ammunition without a license.

The suspects shot and killed Musa Xiluwa of Runnymade village during a carjacking and sped off with his Mercedes Benz sedan along the Mavele and Xihoko road outside Letsitele.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba and his management thanked all the media houses and members of the community.

“We would like to thank them for their continuous support they are providing to the police in this province in the endeavour to fight crime,” he said.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, said Gafane was brought in by his lawyer after a massive manhunt by the police and a circulation that was made a week ago throughout the media.

He will appear before Polokwane Magistrate Court soon.
