“The accused was complaining about domestic violence against her husband of which she never reported any of the incidents to the authorities until she shot him three times in the head”, stated Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, police spokesperson.
The deceased was found dead on the bed in the house the following day. On top of life imprisonment, Visser was also sentenced to three years imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm and to a further six months imprisonment for possession of ammunition without a license.
“The SAPS would like to condemn any act of domestic violence and if anyone has a domestic problem or conflict, they should immediately report it to their local police station or to a Social Worker for intervention instead of taking the life of another”, Ngoepe concluded.
