His colleagues referred to him as a great leader and a mentor, some of the names they used to describe him include, boss and ‘stimela’ (‘train’, because they said he was well ordered).

“Helly believed in me when no one did and he mentored me to be at the level that I am at”, said Tryphinah Mohale, one of the junior managers at Misty Spur.

Riaan Heine, co owner of the Spur, said that he could not trust many people with his business but he trusted Manzini with the restaurant, as he was a good manager.

An emotional Riaan Heine paying tribute to Helly Manzini.

‘Helly died happy, the whole day on Saturday he was just laughing and in a good mood’, these are the words of one of Manzini’s colleagues.

One could feel the love his colleagues had for him and what kind of a person he was from the words of his co-workers.

Helly will be missed. A mourner during the ceremony.

Manzini died in an accident on Saturday on the Mokgolobotho road, which also claimed two other lives in the unfortunate incident.

Riaan and Bessie Heine compiled the following obituary:

To all Helly’s Family, friends and coworkers: We were saddened to hear of Helly’s death and we want to express our most sincere sympathies to the family and spur staff during this difficult time from the management and team here at Misty River Spur. Helly was a highly valuable and respected member of our team and the effects of his passing are already being felt by his fellow employees and management. Helly was a wonderful employee who understood the meaning of the word team. He was always more focused on the good of the company and his employees than on his own benefit. He made many great contributions to the Spur and helped it moved forward in numerous ways. His work will not soon be forgotten. Our sincere condolences go out for his family and to all our staff. Helly was a remarkable man and every member of Spur is a better person for having known him. For those of us that had the privilege of calling him a friend outside of work, we were humbled by his kindness and compassion to everyone around him. He will be greatly missed and everyone is saddened by his death. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family and friends during this difficult time. Our Sincere Sympathy. Henlly leaves behind his fiance, Akani Baloyi and his children children, Kabelo, Rifuwo, Lulama, Lizzy, Minkateko and Bokamoso Manzini. His Funeral will be this Saturday at 08:00 from Khujwana Cemetry in Zangoma.
