Little Tzaneen ruddy gets heads turning

They say to be friendly costs nothing and for the almost two year old Liam Thompson from Tzaneen it comes naturally.

Letaba Herald received a letter of this unique little boy after residents saw him walking with his grandfather.

The little ruddy boy makes a point of it to greet and be friendly with everyone on his daily walks.

During an interview with him and his mother, Gwen, it’s not hard to see where he gets it from.

As bright as little Liam is, he can only say a few words.

Gwen is a single mother and Liam is her only son.

The two of them moved to Tzaneen about a year ago for a fresh start.

Although Gwen is struggling to find a job as a creché teacher, she loves Tzaneen and wouldn’t want to move.

His grandfather, William, stays in New Zealand but comes to visit three months of every year.

Although William already went back to New Zealand, Gwen still takes Liam for his daily walks.

Also according to Gwen, Liam is a “good luck charm”.

Every time they visit Checkers, a vendor selling flowers at the robot, would run to the Lifestyle Centre to touch Liam.

Apparently, he’s been selling more flowers since the little boy came into his life.

Various people have stopped Gwen to meet the extraordinary boy who obviously loves people.

Even their dog, Riley, is very protective over Liam and I had to be careful.

It is obvious that he touches lives wherever he goes.

His mother did however say that he can be a real redhead and likes doing things on his own.

He was born prematurely but that has not stopped him from living his life.

From undressing himself to fetching his own nappy, he has a will of his own.

I’m sure the whole town is eager to see how this bright-eyed boy grows up.
