All Stars edge Royal Celtic

A second half goal from Kgaugelo Malatjie was the difference when Khopho All Stars edged Royal Celtic 1-0 in their KLG Premier Division encounter at Mapantsula Sports Ground, Khopho village on Sunday.

Though Celtic had good start from the first whistle, their poor finishing cost them a game which they could have won easily.

Celtic had the scoring opportunity falling on their as early as two minutes into the game but Mabu Modiba sent his effort wide after he was released from the left wing.

Malebati Moagi wasted another visitors chance to open the score sheet for the visitors in the 5th minute but his effort went well over the cross bar.

Khopho goalkeeper, Matome Ramadi produced a magnificent save when Celtic’s left winger, Mabu was set off yet again by Modiidi Machetela but he failed to curl the ball around the on charging goalkeeper.

As the visitors continued to pile up the pressure their clumsiness in front of the goals continued as well as they missed another sitter when the striker Happy Mangena found himself on one on one situation with the goalkeeper.

Instead of Celtic forward chipping the ball over the goalkeeper, he shot straight to him.

The match went to the break still goalless despite numerous chances Celtic created. However, the home side broke the deadlock in the two minutes after the game resumed from the break when Shawn Selepe laid a great pass to Malatjie who made no mistake and scored the important goal of the game.

The goal resurrected Khopho from their first half slumber and for the first time in the game they pressed the visitor looking for the second goal to kill the game.

All Stars could have increased their tally three minutes after their opener but Solly Machete could not hit the target with his shot from range.

Another opportunity fell in the hands of the host in the 67th minute after Celtic defenders were found wanting but Selepe failed to tap the ball past goalkeeper inside the box one on one with the goalkeeper.

As the game wore off the visitors pushed forward but failed to grab the equalizer and the game ended with Khopho outfit winning the game 1-0.
