Pamo Cup launch this weekend

The 2016 edition of the annual Pamo Memorial Tournament, famously known as the Pamo Cup, will be launched this Sunday at the Lesedi Community Centre in the Lephepane area.

The Pamo Cup is one of the essential competitions of the Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) which takes place every year during the December festive period.

According to the patron of KLG, David Kaizer Letsoalo, the tournament was initiated in memory of the late Masilo Lukas “Maphikiro” Magoro , who was popularly known as Pamo in his lifetime.

He was incredibly talented football-wise and played for the mighty Lephepane Rovers in the 1980’s and tragically passed on in 1994.

“We are extremely proud to honour this legendary figure to have emerged from our local communities. We believe that the late Pamo perfectly fitted the class of the likes of Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo”, said Kaizer Letsoalo.

The Pamo Cup was inaugurated in 2009 and has since grown to be one of the biggest tournaments of its kind in the whole country.

Thousands of sport fanatics and revellers flock the Soccer City, Lephepane, every year around December to witness the top class football spectacle offered by various local teams and others from outside.
