UPDATE: Criminal activity on the increase in Tzaneen

A business break-in and a common robbery occurred in the Tzaneen area last Thursday night.

Six armed suspects gained entry to a farm on Deerpark and held a worker at gunpoint while breaking into the office and storeroom according to Marius Jacobs of Northern Security.

The suspects fled with a computer, grinder, chainsaw and welding machine.

Jacobs said the police were quick to respond and help.

No one got hurt and no arrests have been made yet.

A hiker was robbed by two suspects at a popular hiking spot on the R71.

The victim asked for help and Northern Security was alerted by a client.

A search for the suspects ensued and they were spotted in Agatha Street after the victim identified them.

The victim’s belongings were found on the two suspects and they were arrested.
