Break-ins a huge concern

Community members, especially business owners, are warned to be vigilant as there is a spate of criminal activity in and around Tzaneen.

It is believed the same suspects armed with rifles in a silver Toyota Corolla with a GP plate was responsible for two armed robberies on September 30.

The suspects targeted ATM’s, people withdrawing pensions and money lenders were robbed in Morgan Street and another person was robbed on the R71 road, according to Marius Jacobs of Northern Security.

The SAPS and Northern Security searched the area for their vehicle but didn’t find them, it is believed that the robbers left the area after the second robbery.

“On the way to Politsi, we also responded to a business break-in where suspects removed the window frames to get access,” said Jacobs.

The next day, a display window of a shop in Tzaneen CBD was broken and the business suffered a loss of thousands in rands.

A vehicle at a complex in King Edward Street was stolen last Tuesday, it is a blue golf with the registration DFY 020 L.

A woman was robbed of her cellphone at the same complex in King Edward Street last Wednesday night.

Business owners of Tzaneen were robbed of thousands on the Magoebaskloof road last Wednesday morning.

It is believed that they were on their way to Polokwane when armed suspects pulled them over and attacked them.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made so far.
