The first suspect, Mafemani Peter Baloyi (36), who is an assistant manager at Giyani offices, appeared at the Musina Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of corruption, fraud and extortion.
“Baloyi has been granted R2000 bail and his case is postponed to September 28,”said Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke.
He was arrested after a long and meticulous investigation which began in 2012.
He is accused of soliciting bribes from Asylum seekers at the time he was a manager at Beitbridge Refugee Centre.
The second suspect, Ntshengedzeni Sharon Mudau (42), who is an immigration officer at Beitbrige Home Affairs, was granted R2000 bail on Friday and will also appear in court on September 28.
She is facing fraud charges after allegedly stamping the passport of a suspect who was in police custody.
