Pierre resigns after 25 years of service

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality's Director of Electrical Engineering, Pierre van den Heever has resigned after serving the municipality for 25 years.

Van den Heever (56) will leave the municipality at the end of July to join Witzenberg Municipality in the Western Cape in a similar capacity.

Van den Heever joined the municipality in May of 1991 as deputy head for electrical engineering and became the director in 1994.

A qualified electrical engineer, Van den Heever has also completed a Certificate Programme in Municipal Finance Management and a number of management courses.

According to the municipal spokesperson, Neville Ndlala, Van den Heever managed the province’s biggest electricity network in terms of area at 3 500 Square kilometres and electricity lines equalling 2500 km.

“The municipally would like to thank Van den Heever for his invaluable contribution to the municipality and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours as he joins another government institution. His skills and leadership will be missed in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality,” said Ndlala.
