Digital television awareness comes to Giyani

The Department of Communications Minister, Faith Muthambi will launch Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) awareness campaign in Tiyani ka Magoro's sportsground, in Giyani this coming Sunday.

Limpopo is set to be the fifth province in the country to begin registering under privileged households for free Set Top Box (STB) in time for the digital broadcast migration.

Minister Muthambi is also expected to brief residents and their traditional leaders about the successes of government service delivery, and explain to residents why it is important for the country to move from analogue to digital television as well as touching on the economic benefits that are associated with the digital migration project.

To qualify for a free STB an applicant must be a South African citizen, have an income of less than R3 200 a month and have a valid television licence.

Households that qualifies may also register for STBs during the DTT awareness campaign. Applicants need the following documents when going to their local post office to register: Identity book, proof of address, proof of income or a payslip , affidavit if they don’t have an income.
