Learners receive gifts

Eskom employees donated 34 pairs of new school shoes and 44 packs of Sanitary towels to poor kids in Thandabantu Primary school in Giyani recently.

The event was held under the theme ‘ keep a child at school’.

According to Eskom Project Execution Middle Manager, Mashangu Shivambu, Eskom employees are part of the society and therefore see education as the key to unlock children’s future with the hope that it would subsequently results in the upliftment of the community.

” Education is the only way to broaden our children knowledge and shape their future.

Therefore it is imperative that all children, no matter where they come from, be able to attend the school in proper school uniform, hence we came here to donate gifts to motivate them.” said Shivambu.

He said as employees of Eskom what satisfies us about this initiative is to see a smile on children’s faces when they receive the gifts.

Sarah Maluleke, one of the parents applauded Eskom for donating uniform to the children.

” On behalf of all parents I thank Eskom for giving gifts to our children, as it will help them to come to school regularly. Hope that they will continue doing this so to other schools.” she said

One of the beneficiaries, Ntwanana Chauke (13), a grade 7 learner said she was very happy for the gifts she received from Eskom and will be able to come to school all the time.

School principal, Aubrey Maluleke also thanked Eskom for donating gifts to the school and urged the parastatal to continue to extend the hand to other schools.

“These gifts will help our children because they really needed them, now we are approaching winter and some of these children come to school bare footed. Others use to skip classes because of Menstrual Cycle and hope that no learner will be absent from school due to periods again,” she said
