8 year old girl raped and murdered
An eight year old girls was raped and murdered this morning
According to provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Ronel Otto the girl was walking to school with her friends when she was grabbed by a suspect who dragged her to the bushes.
Otto said he raped the girl and then strangled her.
“The suspect in his 30’s was arrested with the assistance of the community after her friends she was walking with ran away and alerted them. The suspect will appear in the Ritavi Magistrate Court on Monday,” she said.
Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola expressed his shock about the gruesome incident and the senseless death of the little girl.
He also thanked members of the community who assisted in tracing and apprehending the suspect without taking the law into their own hands.
“Crime against women and children is one of the top priorities of the SAPS and we will make sure that this case is properly investigated using all our resources to secure the maximum sentence for this suspect who committed such a barbaric act,” he said.
