Cardo puts Tzaneen on the map

A local young man is putting Tzaneen on the map as he gets playlisted on national radio stations.

Up and coming hip-hop artist, Masana Mbhalati, known by his stage name “Cardo” was born and bred in Nkowankowa B. He went to Unicorn Preparatory School and matriculated from Merensky

High School. In 2012 he enrolled at Damelin College for a Sound Engineering Diploma which he finished in 2015.

Cardo’s single “Squad” is currently playlisted on YFM, MetroFM, UJFM and is top 5 on the YFM HipHopHot99 Countdown. The song was produced by a group called “StudioXBeats”, from Flora Park. Cardo maintains his single has received great reception from fans, artists and Dj’s in Gauteng as well as Durban and has over 5000 downloads and over 500 live streams. He said the music video will be released in march and will be available on youtube. He has appeared on the well known hip hop show on Etv, Shiz Niz back in 2012.

Cardo’s musical talents were first realised by his preschool teacher who noticed his love for the stage. “As a boy I was involved in all things musical from piano lessons, school concerts and even being a fully active member of my primary school choir for the majority of my primary school days. My love for Hip Hop began when I first heard my older brother, (who at the time was an aspiring rapper), rap for the first time. From that moment on, I was hooked and went from following in his brothers footsteps, to paving my own musical path,” he said. Growing up in a small town taught Cardo the value of family, loyalty, honesty and friendship, which he portrays with excellence in his music. Cardo combines the art of true Hip Hop with modern sounds and a flow and presence that is undeniable. He is a not only a force to be reckoned with, but a musically gifted individual whose talents and drive prove to be above par and impossible to deny.
