Breaking news: Mercedes Benz linked in a spree of robberies in Hoedspruit

The Foreign Exchange in the Kamogelo Centre was robbed on Tuesday morning.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the incident happened at 08:45 when four men ambushed the teller as she was opening the shop.

Police at the scene stated the teller was extremely traumatised after the incident.

According to police the robbers had fled in a silver C20 Mercedes Benz registration number CLO1CP GP. Eyewitnesses said they had seen the same four suspects previously at the centre but in a White older BMW with the registration number CZN 137 L.

Police said Farmwatch had already started roadblocks outside Hoedspruit.

According to police, the cashier area of the exchange had bullet proof windows and fingerprint identification to enter.

‘Because they caught the teller in the front and must have surprised her is the only way they could have entered but we will assess the CCTV footage for more clarity on what happened, ‘said one policeman at the scene.

The four suspects were apparently wearing hoods to cover their faces, but one eyewitness stated they were tall and big with very dark complexions.

The suspects had fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
