A 25 year-old man was sentenced to 63 years imprisonment by the High Court of South Africa Special Northern Circuit sitting at Sekgosese last Thursday.

David Ngwako “Proper” Makwela of Lephepane Village was found guilty and convicted on various counts including rape and murder.

He was sentenced to two years for each of the two counts of assault with intent to cause grievious bodily harm, four years for one count of kidnapping, 40 years for four counts of rape and 15 years for murder.

According to the court documents, some of the sentences will run concurrently and Makwela will serve 45 years effective imprisonment.

The offences were committed around Lephepane and Khopo areas between the years 2009 and 2011.
