Contraband worth millions found
Police in Tzaneen are investigating a case of dealing in illegal cigarettes after uncovering a storage at Yamorna Farm just outside Tzaneen town last Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said they received a tip-off and went to the farm where they discovered 145 boxes of illegal cigarettes valued at about R2 Million.
This breakthrough was made after a tip-off from members of the community about a crime syndicate operating from a rented storeroom.
A special joint operation by various police units was established and swiftly rushed there,”said Ngoepe.
He said when police arrived the suspects had already fled the scene but they 145 boxes of illegal cigarettes of various brands.
