MEC for Health and Maruleng’s Mayor turn sod at Hoedspruit Private Hospital

History was made in Hoedspruit when Limpopo Health MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, and the Mayor of Maruleng Local Municipality (MLM), Tsheko Musolwa, turned the sod at Hoedspruit Private Hospital on Friday.

Pieter Scholtz, director of Hoedspruit Private Hospital welcomed the stakeholders and delegates on behalf of the directors, doctors, and the Hoedspruit Private Hospital team. He welcomed the MEC and her entourage, the mayor of MLM, the speaker of MLM, Raganya Blantina, and all other guests in attendance to the groundbreaking occasion.

Musolwa welcomed and briefed the guests and the director and project manager of the Hoedspruit Private Hospital, Bernard Venter, informed guests about the project details. Ramuthuba and Musolwa each turned the sod at the site and Ramuthuba discussed the way forward. Earthworks started on June 7 this year and construction commenced on August 4.

According to Carien Taute, commissioning will start in early 2024 and it is expected that construction will be completed on 31 July 2024. The inspection by the Department of Health will be done in September or October 2024.

Hoedspruit Private Hospital will offer a state-of-the-art trauma unit, radiology diagnostic facility, pathology, surgical and medical facilities, and beds as well as all key ancillary allied clinical services. Provision has been made for on-site doctors, specialists, and consulting rooms.
