Tzaneen and surrounding areas experience earthquake
Tzaneers got the surprise of their lives when they were woken up by an unexplainable sound and shaking on Saturday morning.
According to Volcano Discovery an estimated magnitude 3.0 earthquake was felt in Tzaneen and surrounding areas. to Volcano Discovery the quake happened at 07:53 South African time and was felt up to 25km north-east of Nkowankowa. Residents of Nkowankowa, Dan village, Tzaneen and Letaba Hospital are among of the people who went to social media stating that they felt the tremor. It did not take long for the locals to start joking about the tremor.

Earthquakes are not so foreign to the region. In June 2016 Tzaneen experienced a tremor measured at 1 .7 on the Richter scale and in July 2021 another quake was felt in Nkowankowa
