Limpopo ready for influx of tourists this Easter
Limpopo is ready to welcome visitors for Easter. This is according to MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (Ledet), Rodgers Monama.
He was speaking during the Easter tourism campaign launch, which was held at the Kone Village Boutique Lodge in Venda recently. The campaign aims to showcase Limpopo as a suitable holiday destination for Easter, especially for inbound travellers. This is also to ensure that Limpopo is a top-of-mind destination for South Africans and the SADC region. The MEC said the province is expecting about 1.5 million pilgrims to flock to the province to visit their various places of worship for Easter, including the Zion Christian Church in Mankweng.
Most of the pilgrims come from South Africa but some also hail from the neighboring countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. He said that religious tourism presents a yet-to-be-exploited area of tourism awareness for the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA). “We are encouraging visiting friends and relatives an important segment in the tourism sector, to take a ‘Sho’t Left’ to our tourism products by experiencing and exploring our province.

“Limpopo offers abundant wildlife experience, beautiful scenery, and unlimited activities, which will no doubt leave great memories to all visitors coming to our shores,” he said. Monama also said the tourism sector was hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and they were not sure that it will fully recover. Monama recommended sites such as the Polokwane Game Reserve, Magoebaskloof Canopy Tours, Modjadji Cycad Forest, Nandoni Dam, Phiphidi Waterfalls, Bela-Bela Hot Springs, and all the Forever Resorts in the province.
He also recommended a visit to the Echo Caves, Kruger National Park, Marakele National Park, Mapungubwe National Park, and World Heritage Site, and provincial and private game reserves among the many for people to visit.
