International grannies’ soccer tournament needs urgent assistance

The organisers of the Grannies International Football Tournament (GIFT), Mama Beka Foundation, are pleading with businesses and locals to help support the tournament financially.

With only two days before the event is set to start, the organisers told the Herald, they are financially in a dire position, as some of the institutions and sponsors who promised to assist are not fulfilling their pledges. “The most important at the moment is accommodation, sound and catering.
“Accommodation costs about R60 000 a day. We are pleading with anyone who can contribute, to help us out, ” explained Nkhensani Ntsan’wisi from the Mama Beka Foundation.

She also stated that they don’t need to have the money deposited into their account, but it can be directly deposited to the accounts of the accommodation facility, sound company and the caterers. She emphasised that the tournament with 13 international and seven local teams participating, will go ahead despite the problems.
Anyone willing to help can contact Nkhensani Ntsan’wisi on 065 882 9226 or Tsholo Bulala on 060 908 7059.
