They were arrested on February 7 after members of the provincial anti-corruption unit launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from the victim. The suspects were found in possession of R1000 after they were caught in an ambush. The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest.

“The majority members of the police are passionate about their work and abide by the SAPS code of conduct. The arrested policemen must be treated like any suspects as the police service does not have space for members masquerading as police officers,” said Hadebe. The accused were denied bail and the matter was adjourned to March 24.
