Musina FC holds Giyani Happy Boys to a draw
Chances are slim of Giyani Happy Boys ever catching up to Mpheni Home Defenders in the ABC Motsepe League after a 2-2 draw to Musina FC over the weekend at Xikukwani Stadium.
Playing with the relegation axe hanging over their head, Musina FC was dangerous as they had more to lose than their opponent. To show how important the match was to them, team owner of Musina FC promised each player a bonus of R1000 if they beat the Happy Boys. Unfortunately for them the Happy Boys also needed points to lessen the gap between them and Mpheni Home Defenders who are at the top of the league. With both teams motivated by their set goals, it was clear from the onset that the match was not going to be easy for either side.
For the first few minutes of the first half, the match looked equal, with neither side gaining an upper hand. However, that changed when Giyani Happy Boys fielded some of their key players that were left behind on the bench at the beginning of the match. The match started to look like it was favouring the Happy Boys. However, every time they managed to sneak a goal into the net, Musina FC would score an equaliser. This led to a 2-2 draw that gave Musina FC a temporary lifeline but hurt the Happy Boys badly.

With only three games left before they finish their league matches, a draw against Musina FC has further hampered their chances to overtake Mpheni Home Defenders. A finals play-off could have given them the opportunity to qualify for the First National Division League. Their fate was further sealed when Mpheni FC won 2-0 against Emanuel FC on Saturday. The win gave Mpheni Home Defenders have 30 points out of 11 matches with an advantage of five games in hand. The Happy Boys, on the other hand, has 30 points out of 13 matches, with only three games left to play
