Team building brings hope

A well-known business in Tzaneen, Oasis, spread a message of hope to youngsters during their team-building exercises recently.

Owner, Maria Barkley, and her team reached out to Politsi Primary School and Noah’s Ark to entertain and uplift the youth in the community. The staff did a performance of ‘Light Your Candle’ on instruments made from recycled water bottles and supplies found around their warehouse.

“My husband, James, made the ‘instruments’ and musical ‘equipment’ used in the performance from recycled water bottles and items in his workshop,” says Barkley. A need for a new projector screen was identified in conjunction with the school’s principal when we visited the school to draw up a wish list,” Barkley explains. The learners at Politsi Primary also got cool drinks and ice cream to celebrate the day.

“We were involved at Noah’s Ark throughout the year in 2022 and we held a soccer tournament and sponsored kits for our Heritage Day outreach last year,” says Barkley. They also performed ‘Light Your Candle’ for the little ones at Noah’s Ark in December and gave each child drinks and snacks to enjoy.
