Running runs in Rivalani’s veins

Seven years ago when professional photographer, Rivalani Malangane, was asked to take pictures of long distance runner, Sam Ntsanwisi's run from Pretoria to Tzaneen, he did not know that he himself will fall in love with the sport.

Instead of capturing Ntsanwisi’s run, he joined him on the road and ran wearing his All Star shoes.
Born and bred in N’wamitwa village, he has since turned professional and now has several big marathons to his name.
In October he completed the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon (42.2km) in a time of 3 hours and 46 minutes.

This year he also entered the Comrades marathon and completed the 90 km distance in 9 hours 46 minutes. Most recently he ran the Soweto Marathon. “Running is now part of me,” he told the Herald. “I am also a living witness of the health benefits the sport has,” he said.
He is currently affiliated to the Tzaneen Marathon Club and will be taking part in the N’wamitwa Annual Race where he certainly will be one of the front runners.

The race will take place on Tuesday, December 27.
The N’wamitwa race was first introduced by of Wesley Ntimbana who later passed the baton to Ntsako Kubayi.
The aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle.
