Hlokomela aims to jab 20 000 by January

Hlokomela Clinic in partnership with the Ndlovu Health Group and the local Department of Health have launched a six-month intensive Covid-19 vaccination programme in the Greater Hoedspruit area.

“The aim is to administer 20 000 vaccinations before the end of the year to those living and working in and around the Maruleng Municipality. Hoedspruit is a busy corridor for tourists, transport companies, and seasonal migrant workers alike and viruses can spread quicly from other areas to Hoedspruit,” said MJ du Preez, project manager at Hlokomela.

“To protect our local economy from another Covid-19 outbreak and its subsequent disruptions, Hlokomela is urging local farms, nature reserves, and businesses to motivate their staff to get vaccinated,” he said. Du Preez said that the currently available vaccines do not only protect individuals from getting seriously ill, but it also helps slow down the transmission and spread of the virus thus protecting the area as a whole.

“Hlokomela can also now assist those without identification documents by generating them their own unique vaccination code.” Hlokomela will be doing daily outreaches in and around Hoedspruit, with a weekly outreach to Hoedspruit town. Both Pfizer and J&J will be administered. “If you would like to book an outreach to your farm, business, or lodge, please feel free to mail us at info@hlokomela.org.za to make your booking,” he added.
