Hlokomela run men’s health campaign
Hlokomela offered men’s health education and free screenings recently
This was done to create awareness of men’s health issues and 58 men were screened as part of the initiative.
“We would like to thank the men of the Hoedspruit community, who visited our men’s health awareness day in support of men’s health month, for their free health screening.
“It was a fantastic day with a great turn out! Thank you to Buco Hoedspruit for allowing us to use your parking area and for supporting this initiative!

“Basic men’s health screening consisting of Blood pressure, Blood glucose, HIV testing, BMI, Prostate & cholesterol screening,” said Laverne Stebbing from Hlokomela.
Hlokomela was established in 2005 in response to research that highlighted a critical need for health care among farm workers and other vulnerable populations in the greater Hoedspruit area.
Since then, Hlokomela has been a prominent and respected role player in the health and well-being of the local community, serving about 60 000 people annually as direct or indirect beneficiaries according to their website.
Hlokomela’s services and projects are focussed into three main areas of priority; Healthcare, Income Development Projects & Administration.
