Unattended municipal plot poses a threat to residents

Residents in Aqua Park are frustrated with an overgrown plot in Hardus Lombard Street.

According to resident, Khanyisa Shandlale, who wrote to the Herald, they have been reporting the matter to the municipality to no avail.
“It has been a year since there has been any bush clearing this side. It is so bad that the street light pole is now covered in wild flowers and grass. Smokers and thieves are involved in illegal activities on the open stands because of the bushes,” she said.
Ward 14 Councillor Rene Pohl, said that she and residents have reported the matter to the police about illegal activities happening there.

She also reported the non-working street lights, but nothing came out of it.
As a result the DA have put in a motion to Council that was passed on May 26, to address all these issues.
“The residents also agreed that a petition must be signed by all Aqua Park residents as one voice.
“The petition is being circulated at the moment,” explained Pohl.

Neville Ndlala Spokesperson of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, has told the Herald that, they will send a team to inspect the area.
Ndlala also passed words of gratitude for bringing forward the matter to them, as he believes they should be held accountable when they are not performing their duties.

A week after the Herald contacted the municipality regarding the matter nothing was still done.
