Fire claims two lives in Kgaphamadi

A 75-year-old woman and her 37-year-old daughter-in-law died when a fire broke out in their house in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, March 23 at Kgaphamadi Section in the Bolobedu area.

Five family members managed to escape. The Department of Social Development’s social workers has started providing psychosocial support to the Sekhula family and other affected parties.

MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale has described the incident as devastating. “This is a tragic incident which resulted in the loss of the lives of an elderly woman and her daughter-in-law. We hope police investigations will assist to shed more light on what might have exactly transpired.

Our social workers immediately started with the provision of psychosocial support to the survivors and other affected parties. May the souls of the two victims rest in peace.” said Rakgoale.
