Tzaneen Tennis Club challenge a blast

The aim is to win as many games on the first Friday of every month.

The Tzaneen Tennis Club presented its monthly challenge recently. Taurai Ndadzibaya took first place with Brian Johnson and Craig Johnson in second and third place respectively. Players from the club challenge each other to quick rounds in order to reach four games first with a sudden-death tie-breaker if needed. The aim is to win as many games on the first Friday of every month.

“Challenge Friday is one of our most competitive and fun days to play at the club,” explains Bernard Schoeman, chairman of the club. This year the club plans to host a social tournament every quarter and to have their club championships in the winter months. “Members of the Tzaneen Tennis Club also participate in provincial and invitational tournaments in Polokwane, Louis Trichardt and Phalaborwa. We plan to host the clubs from these areas from time to time too,” Schoeman adds.

For those who want to improve or learn the game, Reenen Bergmann offers professional coaching to many of the schools in the area and also offers private lessons to individuals. You can get in touch with him by contacting the club. Applications to join can be made by contacting the treasurer, James Excell, on 084 852 2688. All new members are supplied with keys to the club house and the tennis courts and can make unlimited use of all the facilities available.
