VW Crew to empower community

The newly formed, VW Crew Empire Phalaborwa says its aim is to empower the community.

It was formally established in November last year. According to Kamogelo Mgiba, what distinguishes them is that they embrace all people even those that drive different car brands, as well as pedestrians.

“Our mission is to keep youngsters away from the streets by mentoring them and being their support system. “We strive to provide food and clothing to the impoverished,” Mgiba explained.

Since the inception of the initiative, they have already donated food parcels to a disability centre in Lulekani. They have also adopted some youngsters who they encourage to cycle on weekends.

During the week the kids are also assisted with their school work at The Hump Car Wash by members of the crew. They also have a social worker who is prepared to help with any matters that may arise.

On Saturday, March 5, the team has planned a braai for the local kids to engage them in a relaxed environment. The crew is appealing to the community and local businesses to help them sponsor the initiative or help them buy T-shirts for the cyclists.
