Many people no longer go on stretched out vacations but prefer to either go on shorter holiday breaks or stay at home.

It is always a good experience to get your body working during trails and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible over the December holidays. The warmer days can be fun-filled at the various trails or hiking spots in and around Joburg or that is close to your home. Trails and hiking are continuing to boom and new trails have developed in and around Joburg. There is nothing more likeable to go early morning on a trail and return home the same day. The best way of preparing is to investigate the trails you would like to go to as much as possible or ask friends what their experience was and if they are interested in doing trails. Once you have all the equipment ready, you can pack your backpack and leave for the best trails from your doorstep during the December holidays. Places to explore are: Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, Melville Koppies Nature Reserve (Central), Modderfontein Reserve, Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Lodge, Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Kloofendal Nature Reserve, Kings Kloof Trails or Hennops Hiking Trails.
