Well known fuel worker sentenced for planned armed robbery
Two men were each sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for various criminal activities while their accomplice was sentence to five years imprisonment for theft by the Tzaneen Regional Court on Thursday.
Jean Pierie Potgieter (24) from Tzaneen, Karabo Disire Lebea (29) and Lisbon Bonny Ndlala (32) both from Relela village in Bolobedu South, were found guilty of theft and each sentenced to five years imprisonment.
Lebea and Ndlala were further sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each for armed robbery and another 10 years imprisonment each for carjacking which was committed at Ga-Makanye village in the Mankweng area outside Polokwane.
There were also declared unfit to possess firearms.
Two days later they committed a planned armed robbery with Potgieter in Tzaneen in which about R400 000 which was going to be deposited at the bank was shared amongst them and the three were arrested on the same day.
During the arrest, part of the money was recovered and the hijacked car was also recovered in Tzaneen.
The cases were successfully investigated by the Provincial Detectives Task Team.
